Rising Star is about 45 minutes north of Brownwood, and we have regulars who make the trip regularly for a plate of slow-smoked BBQ done right. Walk in, find a seat, and order at the counter. No reservations, no rush — just a casual dining room and a plate worth the drive.
Call ahead before you leave Rising Star and your order will be ready at the counter when you arrive. Phone orders available Monday through Saturday. Smoked meats, sides, bread, and sauce all pack and travel well — no degraded quality on the road home.
Our BBQ plates are what customers from Rising Star most often come for. Brisket, ribs, sausage, or pulled pork — all smoked in-house every morning — with two scratch-made sides and bread. Every plate is sliced to order. The smoke ring on the brisket is the result of time, not shortcuts.
Our burgers and sandwiches are made fresh to order. The chopped brisket sandwich uses the same quality meat as the BBQ plates and is one of the most popular items on the menu. When you want something hand-held without settling for less, this is it.
All sides are made in-house from scratch — slow-cooked pinto beans, daily coleslaw, real mac and cheese. Smoked jalapeños and bacon-wrapped ABTs round out a proper Texas BBQ spread. Customers from Rising Star often add an extra side to their order before they leave.
We're a family-friendly restaurant with a kids menu sized right for younger guests. One dining room, one welcoming atmosphere for everyone. If you're making the drive from Rising Star with the family, the whole table gets a good meal without anyone having to negotiate.
Our dessert rotation changes with what the kitchen is putting out that week. Ask at the counter before you decide you don't have room — it's made on-site and changes regularly. If there's space after a full plate, it's worth a question.
